Quality Accreditation
OTC's quality management system has been registered as compliant with BS EN ISO 9002 by the British Standards Institution (BSI). All OTC services are covered by this registration.
Regular in-depth internal and external audits of the operation of the quality system are undertaken in order to ensure that the requirements of the standard continue to be met. ISO registration number is FS11427.
In addition, other major commercial organisations have granted OTC quality assurance approval to supply a variety goods and services.
Calibration Accreditation
OTC's calibration laboratory maintains UKAS accreditation for a wide variety of fibre optic, electrical and illuminance measurements. OTC was the first laboratory in the field of fibre optic measurements to be granted accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.
Mutual recognition agreements between UKAS and other equivalent bodies ensure that such UKAS accreditation is recognised worldwide.
OTC is UKAS accredited laboratory number 0286.
Traceability
As a UKAS laboratory, OTC's reference standards are directly traceable to SI units via primary standards at UK National Physical Laboratory and elsewhere. Reference to standards used is made on every OTC certificate of calibration, thus ensuring that all customers have a direct chain of traceability to prime standards.
Certification & Results
OTC issues both UKAS and in-house calibration certificates. The latter use the same traceability chain, but use simpler certificates that meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 9000 and BS EN ISO 10012-1 standards. In all cases, full results and a certificate are issued.
OTC Influence on Optical Measurements
OTC is represented on the UK working group of the International Electrotechnical Committee standards body IEC TC86/ECL22/WG4. Through this group OTC directly contributes to international discussion and determination of measurement standards and procedures.

Within the UK, OTC also supports and works with the Fibre Optic Industry Association: a professional body, which aims to promote high standards for workmanship and testing of fibre optic installations of all types.
