Fibre Optic Design
OTC are able to call upon both in-house skills and those of associated companies working in the field of fibre optics. This allows OTC to offer a unique service to customers who have special requirements which are not satisfied by proprietary, or off the shelf equipment.
The specific design capabilities fall into the following categories:-
Stabilised Light Sources
All wavelengths from 633nm to 1575nm and fibre/connector combinations.
+/- 0.1dB stability over 24 hours.
Special fibre optic mode conditioning if required.
External cavity laser mode selection and line narrowing.
Optical Power Detection
All wavelengths from 633nm to 1575nm and fibre/connector combinations.
+10dBm to -80dBm CW and pulse characterisation.
O/E convertors for oscilloscope monitoring of optical waveforms.
OTDR Customising and Upgrades
In addition to the usual length and loss measurement by the OTDR, other applications are serviced including live fibre monitoring, distributed sensor monitoring, coherent measurement and detection of fibre transmission characteristics.
Large core fibre and non-standard wavelengths operation.
Software
Cable installation documentation, allowing capture and integration of OTDR, loss, physical and audit records.
Fibre Optic Artifacts
N-Way splitters in tree/series drop configurations with 3dB (or other) split ratios.
Custom multi-tap delay lines and length measurement.
Recirculating fibre loops.
Mode scramblers and fixed attenuators.
Polarisation explorers both active/mechanical and thermal.
Miscellaneous
Data logging.
Talksets.
Multi-channel video systems.
